How Opscenter Alert system works

Dear Friends,

I need a suggestion that how opscenter alert system works , i have configured alert policy for hung jobs that whatever jobs is taking more than 12 hours it will send mail alert for that , now my question is that i receved one alert for a job which is exceeding 12 hours when i will get second alert for the same jaob .

Please assist .
