A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the NetBackup Discovery Framework service. Restarting the Symantec private exchange service (which will cause a restart of all nbu services) solves the issue temporarely but after a few days the events appearing again. Somebody who has any idea of the cause or who has a solution ?

Backups jobs are still running fine.

Hello,

I am using Netbackup Enterprise Server 6.5 on a Solaris 10 workstation. When I try to do a restore the console turns white and shows a watch for the cursor after about a half an hour. I increased the INITIAL_MEMORY to 256M and the MAX_MEMORY to 1024M in the nbj.conf file, rebooted the suystem and tried another restore and got the same results. The screen turns white and never recovers. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Our case is this:

DD 4500
10GB ETH: NO
We use 2 HBA's to DD and
2 HBA for each media server, we have 4 MS
Someone suggest how can I work using SAN Client, SAN Media Server or any alternative to maximize our enviroment

Hi,

I have NBU 7.5.0.4 running on windows server 2008 r2. my media servers are also my storage servers.D: drive stores the backup images. I am trying to upgrade these servers into windows 2012. Is there a documentation that explains how to do this kind of transfer without losing my backup data on media servers?

Any thoughts on this would be highly appreciated.

Windows 2012 r2 client BMR fails with error :No network interfaces found . Installed WINPE 3.0 drivers , modified SRT and tried , but no luck.

Then installed WINPE 5.0 drivers on the windows client and successfully did Bare Metal Restore.

Would like to know ,why WINPE 3.0 drivers are not working on Windows client running with Netbackup 7.6.0.4 version ?

What is the correct version of WINPE drivers required for a BMR restore of Windows 2012 r2 client running on 7.6.0.4 Netbackup version ?

My catalog disk has run out of space, and then netbackup stopped. I have made some space on the catalog disk agian, but now i keep getting a status 13 error when i try to make a catalog backup. ?

Have anyone seen this before. ?

On DR isolated network, we recovered entire catalog. But we did see all volumes, devices and media servers which not existing in our DR enviornment. How can i manually clean them up from EMM?

I will still need meta data, image files for my application restores.

We are on 7.5.0.6 HP-UX IA64.

I have a backup job with 3 Windows servers. 2 of the servers were backed up successfully.

I was having issues with the 3rd server and cancelled the job.

Is there a way to start that backup job on the 3rd server without having to restart the whole job?

Hi Everyone,
I have been reading a lot of forum discussions and documents to understand the behaviour of Netbackup for shadow copy components.

We are using shadow copy components for our DFS and file servers. Backups runs for hours to get completed.

As per my understanding, shadow copy components backs up system files, registry and all other system related data and puts in system state in BAR.
All user data, ADAM and other relative data is structured within user data.

There are different types of creating shadow copy using VSS.

1. VSS full clone
2. VSS copy on write (Differential copy)
3. Redirect on write

Does Netbackup use VSS full clone for shadow copy component?

A regular shadow copy from windows is completed within few minutes.
However, same data backup takes hours to get completed using NB. File backup gets completed soon.

Kindly help.
